Xiaomi Corporation also known as Xiaomi and officially registered as Xiaomi Inc., is a Chinese designer and producer of consumer electronics, home appliances, and other household goods, as well as associated software.

The company is ranked 338th and is the youngest company on the Fortune Global 500. It is the second-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, behind Samsung, and the majority of its products operate on the MIUI User interface, which is based on the Android operating system.

Using its Internet of Things and Xiaomi Smart Home product ecosystems, it is a significant manufacturer of appliances as well, including TVs, flashlights, unmanned aerial vehicles, and air purifiers.

Since Xiaomi maintains the majority of its products on the market for 18 months, which is longer than most smartphone manufacturers, it is able to keep its prices close to its manufacturing costs and bill of materials costs. To keep its inventory low, the business also employs inventory optimization and flash sales.

With 216 industrial design registrations published under the Hague System in 2020, Xiaomi was placed second worldwide in the 2021 review of WIPO’s annual World Intellectual Property Indicators.

With 111 industrial design registrations published in 2019, they moved up from their prior third-place ranking to this one.

On 8 February 2022, Lei published a statement on Weibo to reveal plans for Xiaomi to join the high-end smartphone market and surpass Apple as the top seller of premium smartphones in China in three years.

Over the next five years, Xiaomi will spend US$15.7 billion on R&D toward that objective, and the business will compare its user interface and product offerings to those of Apple. After Xiaomi’s market share in China declined over successive quarters—from 17% to 14% between Q2 and Q3 2021, then further to 13.2% as of Q4 2021—Lei referred to the new strategy as a “life-or-death battle for our development” in a Weibo post.

Xiaomi is the market leader for smartphones in India in Q1 according to a new Canalys report. One of the top smartphone manufacturers in India that keeps prices low is Xiaomi.

While the humanoid robot’s current capabilities are extremely limited, Xiaomi announced and unveiled the company’s humanoid robot prototype to the public in 2022.

The announcement marked the company’s ambitions to integrate AI into its product designs as well as develop their humanoid robot project into the future.
